The slate for this year’s Accelerator Program, an initiative from the National Association of Latino Independent Producers that supports Latino artists with developing their film projects, includes films from Danny Ramirez, Sylvia Ray, Esteban Orozco and Alexis C. Garcia. The Accelerator Program, previously known as the Latino Media Market, also provides mentorship and industry guidance to participants. The projects will be presented during the NALIP Media Summit June 26-27, and a jury will review them.
“The Accelerator program is crucial in supporting projects that are ready to be financed and produced—ensuring they are as competitive and high-quality as any other project out there,” NALIP’s executive director Diana Luna said in a statement. “We’ve seen firsthand how programs like these can truly change lives. Many of our past participants have gone on to secure funding, representation, and festival premieres. This isn’t just about access—it is about achievement.”
The full projects slate includes “Boat People” directed by Al’Ikens Planche, “Gen Doom” directed by Juliana Toloza Serna, “In an Orderly Fashion” directed by Adrian Cardenas, “Kuebi and the Jipobu Plant” directed by Carlos Carrera, “La Casa de Luz” directed by Alexis C. Garcia and “My Teen Mom Is Trippin’” directed by Gabriela Revilla Lugo. The slate continues with “Norma” directed by Christina Ramirez, “Pursuit of Touch” produced by Danny Ramirez and Tom Culliver, “Saint Death” (Working Title) directed by Chica Barbosa & Thiago Zanato, “Teorema” directed by Esteban Orozco, “The Middle” directed by Sylvia Ray and “Wishes Sink in Man Made Lakes” directed by Faye Ruiz.
“Since the first time I attended the NALIP summit, my life has never been the same. Thanks to NALIP’s programs and continuous support, I’ve been able to push my creative boundaries and grow both professionally and personally,” Ben DeJesus, director, executive producer and co-creator of “Leguizamo Does America,” said in a statement. “The incredible access and panels plus the opportunity to connect and collaborate with my peers, provided me with a new perspective and fuel for my fire. I am so proud to be part of this community that empowers us to tell our stories.”
