Bert Kreischer to Star in Netflix Comedy Series ‘Free Bert’
Bert Kreischer is the star and co-creator of a new scripted comedy series on Netflix titled “Free Bert.”
The perpetually shirtless stand-up comedian plays a version of himself in the six-episode show, which finds Bert in a sticky situation after his daughters enroll in an elite Beverly Hills private school and his “unbridled antics turn his family into outcasts.” In order to fit in, Bert decides to finally put on a shirt (both literally and metaphorically, we presume) and suppress his true self.
Kreischer will star alongside Arden Myrin (“The Righteous Gemstones,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Ava Ryan (“Keeping Up With the Joneses”) and newcomer Lilou Lang.
He serves as co-creator and executive producer alongside Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogul, who together are the showrunners, writers and directors. Executive producers also include Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns and Elise Henderson for Counterpart Studios, as well as LeeAnn Kreischer and Judi Marmel.
Kreischer is a mainstay at Netflix with five stand-up comedy specials, including 2025’s “Lucky.” In an interview with Variety in February, Kreischer praised the streamer as “a great place to release stuff because they’re so hands off.” As examples of Netflix’s investment in comedians, he mentioned its spotlight on Shane Gillis with comedy specials and his scripted series “Tires,” plus Tom Segura, whose “Bad Thoughts” was recently renewed for a second season. Netflix also boasts partnerships with John Mulaney, Kevin Hart, Ali Wong and many more comics.
In addition to his stand-up comedy, Kreischer also runs Berty Boy Productions with his wife, LeeAnn Kreischer. The content hub backs their podcasts “Bertcast,” “Something’s Burning” and “Wife of the Party,” as well as the Fully Loaded Comedy Festival. He also hosts “2 Bears, 1 Cave” with Segura.
