CAA Signs Nayeema Raza, Host of ‘Smart Girl Dumb Questions’ Podcast
Nayeema Raza, the creator and host of the podcast “Smart Girl Dumb Questions,” has signed CAA for representation.
Raza, previously a senior staff editor with The New York Times’ opinion section, ran the “Sway” podcast for the media outlet, and has co-hosted Semafor’s “Mixed Signals” and worked as the on-air executive producer of “On With Kara Swisher.”
On “Smart Girl Dumb Questions,” Raza uses simple questions, humor and journalism to probe big ideas. In the first episode of the series, she asked Mark Cuban, “Can billionaires save us?” She has also interviewed Neil deGrasse Tyson, Esther Perel, Mayor Eric Adams and Diplo.

Raza frequently serves as a guest moderator on NPR’s “Open to Debate.” She has spoken at TED, SxSW, and the Milken Global Conference.

Her signing comes as CAA has ramped up its work with creators. The talent firm has signed new agents including Becky Van Dercook, a former CBS News producer who worked recently with political influencer and Kennedy scion Jack Schlossberg, and Greg Goodfried, who has helped manage digital influencers and digital strategies for celebrities.
She launched “Smart Girl Dumb Questions” in February of this year, seeking out leaders in business, science, and culture to respond to seemingly disarming queries. The show was selected as a Top Apple pick in April, and has made Spotify’s Top Podcast charts for multiple months. It has also be quoted in venues ranging from from The New Yorker and CNN to Page Six and People.
Raza broke into journalism with a background in documentary filmmaking, producing work that was featured at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival and short-listed for the 2020 Telluride Film Festival. She continues to be represented by Anonymous Content.
