With the promotion, Longeretta will report to Ramin Setoodeh, Variety’s Co-President and Co-Editor in Chief, and Cynthia Littleton, Co-Editor in Chief.

“In her four years at Variety, Emily Longeretta has proven herself to be a thoughtful, driven editor with her finger on the pulse of culture,” Setoodeh said. “We are thrilled that, in her new role, she will driving the development of features and longform stories in our award-winning magazine.”
Littleton praised Longeretta as a true team player who is well known and well liked in the industry. “Emily is a respected voice in entertainment journalism. She has a seemingly endless appetite for entertainment and pop culture. Her love for TV, movies, music and other sectors that Variety covers is always evident in her work,” Littleton said.
Longeretta joined Variety in January 2022 as senior TV features editor after four years with Us Weekly, rising to senior entertainment editor. At Variety, she quickly gained more responsibility for overseeing television-related FYC coverage and a host of other features. She has overseen the production of 14 Extra Editions each year during Emmy season, as well as other editorial franchises such as Reality TV Impact Report, Women of Reality and TV Producers Impact Report.

She frequently moderates conversations at festivals across the country and appears widely on local and national media outlets as a reporter and commentator on entertainment news and trends. She hosts a regular weekly entertainment news segment on CBS Los Angeles (KCAL-TV).
