Entertainment tech company Gathr has announced a full API (Application Performance Interface) integration with Artinii.Pro, a software service aimed at secure delivery and exhibition of films worldwide. Gathr and Artinii.Pro’s new collaboration combines film booking, event management, ticketing, and exhibition into a “fully automated system for non-theatrical screenings.” “This partnership exemplifies Gathr’s mission to remove the barrier between storyteller and audience by empowering filmmakers, connecting audiences, and transforming how independent films are experienced globally,” said Gathr founder and CEO Scott Glosserman. “Our unique approach ensures that even in countries where certain web browsers and third-party video players are restricted, audiences can still host screenings and engage with impactful content.”
Films slated for global screenings and discussions under the new collaboration include Monument Releasing’s “Dinner in America,” Vanessa Hope’s “Invisible Nation,” and Stephen Maing’s “Union.”
Steven Feinartz’s documentary “Are We Good?” will premiere at SXSW on March 11, with a panel featuring lead subject Marc Maron on March 12. The documentary follows the life of comedian, actor and podcaster Maron as he loses his partner and filmmaker Lynn Shelton and navigates the loss a year later. Feinartz includes interviews with John Mulaney, Nate Bargatze, David Cross and Michaela Watkins, along with podcast footage from Maron’s interviews with Barack Obama, Andrew Garfield, Patton Oswalt and more. “I’m grateful that Marc allowed me this access to his life, as he was grappling with such an intense loss,” Feinartz said in a statement. “We tried to make a film that covered a topic that is often avoided, and in facing it head on, we found catharsis.” At the panel “Featured Session: A Conversation with Marc Maron,” Maron will sit down with W. Kamau Bell to unpack the film and its subject mater. Ahead of the film’s SXSW world premiere, the new trailer for “Assembly” shows Black artists coming together to transform the historic Park Avenue Armory into a space of celebration.
Once known as a home of white military power, Park Avenue Armory is reformed by the work of artist Rashaad Newsome, creating a new space for Black and queer culture through music, dance, video projections, holograms and African fractal patterns. Through hybrid storytelling, “Assembly” tells the story of this drastic transformation while creating space to honor the presence of ancestors. In the trailer, Newsome reflects on the Park Avenue Armory’s complicated past and the future potential that comes with blending art and performance. “Assembly” was directed, produced and written by Newsome and Johnny Symons. Issa Rae is set to be honored with the 2025 Game Changer Award by the UCLA Anderson School of Management. The Game Changer award recognizes industry executives who have helped lead innovation, with past recipients including Ted Sarandos, Donna Langley, Ice Cube, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Jerry Bruckheimer. Rae is known for her work in films and shows like “Insecure,” “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and “American Fiction.” “Issa Rae epitomizes exactly what the Game Changer Award was meant to recognize,” UCLA center for media, entertainment and sports executive director Jay Tucker said in a statement. “At a time when creators were only beginning to understand the reach and potential of YouTube as a platform, Issa Rae launched the web series ‘The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl,’ using social media to promote the show and raising money through Kickstarter to fund some of the episodes.” Rae is set to receive the award at UCLA’s annual Pulse Conference on April 4. Michelle Pfeiffer will be honored with a hand and footprint ceremony on Friday, April 25 during this year’s TCM Classic Film Festival at the TCL Chinese Theatre. Pfeiffer’s Oscar-nominated performance in “The Fabulous Baker Boys” (1989) will be showcased, with the ceremony marking the 12th hand and footprint ceremony to coincide with the TCM Classic Film Festival.

Winnie Holzman, co-writer of the “Wicked” musical and both parts of the film adaptation, will be an honoree at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts annual gala. The gala will be held at Cipriani South Street April 7. Holzman studied at Princeton University as well as NYU’s graduate musical theatre writing program in its inaugural year. She learned from theatre artists like Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents. The latter directed the off-Broadway production of her musical “Birds of Paradise,” which was her thesis. “My experience at the NYU Musical Theatre Program was a turning point in my life, so this honor holds deep meaning for me,” Holzman, who is class of 1983, said in a statement. Holzman’s body of work also includes plays like “Assisted Living” and “Choice.” She’s written for television, including “My So-Called Life” starring Claire Danes, and acted in “Jerry Maguire” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Holzman has an HBO original drama in the works, with Danes attached to the project. The Museum of the Moving Image has announced the lineup for the fourth annual Marvels of Media festival, celebrating autistic media-makers. In addition to screenings, panels, and workshops, the festival (running March 27-29) will feature an exhibition and Marvels of Media’s first nationwide expansion tour. “Marvels of Media has shown the brilliant work of neurodiverse media-makers in clear evidence,” said Josh Sapan, MoMI trustee and founder of Marvels of Media and Sapan Studio. “I can think of no better fourth anniversary present for Marvels of Media than the theaters and art centers around the country that are becoming showcase partners of Museum of the Moving Image. The festival will open with a program of short films including “Once More, Like Rain Man” with an introduction by producer Darren Dean, and a discussion with actor-director Sue Ann Pien, actress Bella Zoe Martinez, and “Elegy for the Future” director Christina Phensy. The full festival lineup includes 22 new films, five video games, and two virtual reality experiences. Admission to all Marvels of Media screenings and events is free with RSVP. The Doris Duke Foundation and the Sundance Institute have announced the four recipients of the Building Bridges Completion fund, a three-year initiative launched to support U.S. Muslim narratives at the Sundance Film Festival. Offering grants of up to $25,000 to U.S.-based directors, writers, and producers whose filmmaking projects “amplify the universality and distinctiveness of U.S. Muslim Narratives.” The fund is aimed at offering crucial late-stage project funding and costs associated with premiering at the Sundance Film Festival each January for the next two years. Filmmakers Alireza Khatami, Amber Fares, Humza Syed and LaTajh Simmons-Weaver are this year’s recipients. “New voices drive culture forward. The artists this program supports are the vanguard of the new perspectives our society desperately needs,” said Doris Duke Foundation President and CEO Sam Gill. The Building Bridges Fellowship and Completion Fund is a part of Sundance Institute’s Artist Accelerator Program, which works to “create a more transparent, equitable, and sustainable independent film and television ecosystem.” At the 97th Academy Awards, Kodak productions “Anora,” “The Brutalist,” “I’m Still Here” and “I’m Not a Robot” all won major awards. “Anora,” which won the most Oscars of the night, was captured on 35mm by Drew Daniels. “The Brutalist,” which won three Oscars including best cinematography, was shot on multiple formats including 35mm VistaVision and 16mm. “I’m Still Here,” which won for best international film, was shot on 35mm and Super 8mm. Finally, “I’m Not a Robot,” the winner in best live action short, was also shot on 35mm.

Aniello is known for writing, producing and acting in comedies like “Hacks,” “Broad City,” “Time Traveling Bong,” “Nora From Queens” and “The Baby-Sitters Club,” making up one half of the comedy team Paulilu with Paul W. Downs. “Lucia Aniello is an imperative and dynamic voice in today’s storytelling landscape, and we are honored to welcome her as this year’s keynote speaker at the AFI DWW+ Showcase,” AFI Conservatory Dean and Executive VP Susan Ruskin said in a statement. “We look forward to bringing the entertainment community together to celebrate the DWW+ Class of 2025 directors and their bold new films.” The DWW+ Showcase provides an opportunity for the graduating cohort to premiere their shorts to agency and studio representatives, as well as celebrate their work in the program. This year’s showcase is set for Wednesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. at the Directors Guild of America theater in Los Angeles. Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover and Roselyn Sanchez will star in “The Third Parent,” a horror movie set to be distributed by Bleecker Street and drawn from Elias Witherow’s creepypasta story series.
The film follows a creature named Tommy Taffy, played by Glover, pretending to be human and blending into the suburbs during the Fourth of July. Bleecker Street will handle the film’s nationwide theatrical release following its recent distribution rights acquisition from Walters Media Group. “Crispin Glover’s Tommy Taffy will be the next great horror villain,” Andrew Karpen and Kent Sanderson of Bleecker Street, said in a statement. The film’s producers are Gary Michael Walters via Walters Media Group, Lowe and Spencer Young via Enfant Terrible and Daniel Kresmery and Jonathan Halperyn via Hero Squared. “I am so thrilled to be part of Bleecker Street’s continued expansion into the horror space. Andrew and Kent’s support for this project has been phenomenal,” Walters said in a statement. David Michaels makes his directorial feature debut with the film in addition to writing the screenplay. “With Gary’s incredible track record as a producer and David’s strong vision, anchored by Rob Lowe and Roselyn Sanchez’ compelling performances, we believe this will be a singular and terrifying theatrical experience,” Karpen and Sanderson also said in their statement. Jimmy Humilde, CEO of Rancho Humilde, the powerhouse Mexican-American recording label, is expanding his legacy into feature films and television. Humilde, along with business partners Jose “JB” Becerra and Roque “Rocky” Venegas, is kicking off this new venture with ‘Clika,’ a culturally defining feature film produced by Humilde and directed by Michael Greene (“Live”). “Clika” will be released in theaters on Aug. 15, 2025, by Columbia Pictures and Sony Music Vision. Celebrating 50 years of Spielberg’s blockbuster film, “Jaws: The Exhibition” is the first exhibition of its scale at the Academy Museum focused on a single film, and the largest “Jaws” exhibition mounted by Universal Pictures. Featuring over 200 objects, the exhibition includes concept illustrations by production designer Joe Alves, a costume worn by Roy Scheider as Brody, original shark design schematics by Frank Wurmser, and a screen-used prop dorsal fin. “After 50 years, many of the accounts about the production of Jaws are as well-known as the film itself,” said senior exhibitions curator Jenny He in a statement. “This exhibition uncovers the film’s multilayered mythologies and lore for both new and seasoned fans.”
