Halle Berry might not be reprising her role as the weather-controlling Storm in the forthcoming “Avengers: Doomsday,” but don’t count the Oscar-winning actor out of a future Marvel reunion. “While I’m sad I won’t be in ‘Doomsday’ this round, there are other rounds,” Berry told ScreenRant while promoting her new movie “Crime 101.” “And I would do that in a heartbeat.”
Berry also noted how proud she is to have been a part of the X-Men world: “I think the whole world of the X-Men and being mutants and outcasts. [They’ve] been movies that I’ve been proud to have my children watch. They have so much to say that I thought has been really important, especially for my children as they’ve grown. So they’re beloved.”
The “Catwoman” actor played Storm from 2000 to 2014, appearing in “X-Men,” “X2: X-Men United,” “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” “Storm is a very special character to me,” Berry continued. “I’ve been so blessed [that I’ve] gotten to play her.” While Storm won’t be returning, a long list of names from the “X-Men” universe are set to reprise their roles in “Avengers: Doomsday,” including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Channing Tatum and Rebecca Romijn. Also set to appear are Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Simu Liu, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen and Lewis Pullman. Robert Downey Jr. will also be in “Doomsday,” though not as Tony Stark — he’ll instead play Doctor Doom, a villain.
Directed by MCU regulars Anthony and Joe Russo, “Avengers: Doomsday” is set to release on Dec. 18.
