SPOILER ALERT: This article contains major spoilers for “Hijack” Season 2, streaming now on Apple TV. “Hijack” Season 2 is on track for its season finale on March 4, with audiences set to find out whether Idris Elba’s Sam Nelson can save a train full of passengers — and expose the real mastermind behind the deadly hijacking plot – before the bombs go off. In a sneak peek of the final episode shared with Variety, Nelson finally gets a proof-of-life from his ex-wife Marsha (Christine Adams), who is being hunted in the woods by accomplices of the same shadowy figures that have railroaded Nelson into hijacking the train. But even Marsha’s entreaties not to let the real architects of the hijack “use me against you” can’t stop Nelson from halting the handover with terrorist John Bailey-Brown in case it furthers endangers the mother of his child.
As the eight-episode show hurtles towards its denouement, British Embassy official Olivia (Clare-Hope Ashitey) also pleads with Nelson via a communication line in the U-Bahn control room, telling him, “You’re helping your son’s killer escape” but Nelson replies: “That’s the deal that I’ve had to make.” The logline for the season finale reads: “With the handover imminent, Sam is prepared to put his life on the line to save Marsha—and expose the truth.” Check out the clip above. The second season of the hit show sees Elba return as arch negotiator Nelson — who in Season 1 saved a plane from a hijacking – on a German U-Bahn underground train, only this time he’s doing the hijacking in a bid to bust Bailey-Brown out of jail.
