Jake Johnson is set to star opposite Tatiana Maslany in the upcoming dark comedy thriller series “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed” at Apple TV+. The show was originally announced in February with Maslany in the lead role. The logline states that the show is about “a newly divorced mom (Maslany) who falls down a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder, and youth soccer.” Johnson will star as Karl, Paula’s ex-husband.
Johnson is perhaps best known for his role as Nick Miller in the Fox comedy series “New Girl,” starring in all seven seasons. He also previously appeared in the critically-acclaimed “Mythic Quest” episode “A Dark Quiet Death” for Apple. His other recent TV credits include “History of the World Part II,” “Minx,” and the animated series “Hoops.” In film, Johnson is known for lending his voice to the “Spider-Verse” franchise as well as films like “Self Reliance,” “Ride the Eagle,” and “Win It All,” all of which wrote. He made his feature directorial debut with “Self Reliance.”
He is repped by UTA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Apple has ordered 10 episodes of “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.” David J. Rosen is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner. David Gordon Green will direct and executive produce. The series was developed by Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon, who executive produce for Genre Films under their first-look deal with Apple TV+. Bard Dorros will executive produce for Anonymous Content. Apple Studios and Counterpart Studios will produce.
