Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Mitch McConnell’s Proof of Life Photo Amid Questions Over Senator’s Health
Jimmy Kimmel is currently on summer break from hosting his ABC late night talk show, but that’s not stopping him from continuing to take aim at the Republican party. Kimmel’s latest target is Sen. Mitch McConnell, who posted a photo of himself on social media as proof of life amid questions over the 84-year-old politician’s health. McConnell was hospitalized on June 14.
McConnell posted a photo on Instagram of himself in bed posing next to his wife Trump’s former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao. McConnell is holding a copy of Sunday’s edition of The Washington Post, seemingly to confirm the date the photo was taken and to quiet widespread speculation about his deteriorating health. The photo only led to more questions about McConnell’s health as many people doubted the photo’s validity.

Kimmel mocked McConnell by posting the same exact photo on Instagram with Kimmel’s face apparently photoshopped on to McConnell’s body. The late night host wrote in the caption: “For those who’ve been asking, I’m feeling great.”

In his health update, McConnell wrote: “My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia.”
Kimmel’s mock photo was widely celebrated on social media. Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas praised the comedian by writing: “You NEVER miss!” Fellow comedian Will Sasso spoofed the skepticism over McConnell’s photo by commenting: “Not buying it. Kimmel looks way younger in this pic – was likely taken years ago.”
