John Malkovich will star opposite Joel Kinnaman in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series “Bishop,” Variety has confirmed. The show was picked up at Prime Video in September 2025. Per the official logline, “Homicide detective Bishop Graves (Kinnaman) – brilliant, battle-scarred – will put all of his skills to the test in the hunt for an elusive killer targeting San Francisco’s moneyed class. As this increasingly audacious killer develops a devoted following among the city’s powerless, Bishop becomes convinced these murders connect back to SF’s most powerful man, his own father, Lincoln Graves (Malkovich).”
Malkovich is a highly-celebrated actor, known for his roles across film, TV, and the stage. His recent TV roles includes shows like “Space Force” at Netflix, “Billions” at Showtime, and “The New Pope” at HBO. He has been nominate for two Academy Awards to date — one for “In the Line of Fire” and the other for “Places in the Heart.”
He is also a three-time Emmy Award nominee with one win for the 1986 made-for-TV movie version of “Death of a Salesman.” His other notable onscreen roles include “Being John Malkovich,” “Burn After Reading,” and “Of Mice and Men,” while his stage work includes numerous collaborations with Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company. He is repped by WME. “Bishop” hails from co-creators and executive producers Little Marvin and Tony Saltzman, with Little Marvin also serving as showrunner. Roy Lee will also executive produce along with Miri Yoon of Vertigo. Amazon MGM Studios, where Little Marvin is under an overall deal, will produce.
