As we enter the new year, the past few weeks have been filled with blockbusters and independent films for audiences to discover. From sports comedy dramas to sci-fi fantasies, this season is full of movies with wide appeal and independent films for everyone to watch on the big screen over the next few weeks. The widest release this week will be Independent Film Company’s “The Plague,” a horror film starring Joel Edgerton and an ensemble of young newcomers, including Everett Blunck, Kayo Martin and Kenny Rasmussen.
“The Plague” marks Charlie Polinger’s debut feature and tells the story of an anxious young boy named Ben (Everett Blunck), who navigates the social structure of an all-boys water polo camp. After being pulled into a cruel tradition targeting an outcast with an illness they call “The Plague,” things take a dark turn.
