Christmas is coming early for Imax 70mm fans. Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” and Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” two of the year’s most popular films on the company’s premium screens, are briefly returning to theaters next month. Both films will be back in Imax for one week in select locations starting on Dec. 12. Certain theaters in North America will also have screenings on Dec. 11. See below for the participating Imax 70mm theaters:
· AMC Lincoln Square in New York City, NY
· Universal AMC CityWalk in Los Angeles, CA · Regal Irvine Spectrum & IMAX in Irvine, CA · AMC Metreon in San Francisco, CA · Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis, IN · Harkins Arizona Mills in Tempe, AZ · Autonation IMAX in Ft. Variety‘s senior awards editor Clayton Davis currently predicts both films will be nominated for best picture, best director and lead actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, who stars as a washed-up revolutionary in “One Battle After Another,” and Michael B. Jordan, who plays twins who must fend off vampires in the South in “Sinners.” “Sinners” has the edge in terms of box office grosses. The film opened in April to $48 million in April and became a breakout hit with more than $360 million worldwide. “One Battle After Another” debuted in September to $22 million and has earned above $200 million at the global box office.
