Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr Join Lars Kepler ‘Joona Linna’ Adaptation at Apple TV+
Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr have been cast in Apple TV+’s upcoming adaptation of Lars Keppler’s “Joona Linna” book series.
Per the official description, the series “tells the story of Jonah Lynn (Liev Schreiber), an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who, tired of working the tough streets of Philadelphia, moves to a small town in Western Pennsylvania for a quiet life. But, as the town and his family come under attack from the diabolically cunning serial killer Jurek Walter (Stephen Graham), Jonah must protect all that he holds dear. When the desperate search for Jurek’s last missing victim forces Jonah to send his adopted daughter FBI agent Saga Bauer (Zazie Beetz) up against Jurek, how far will Jonah go?”

Carr (“Genius: MLK/X,” “The Peripheral,” “21 Bridges”) will play Nathan, a forensic investigator who is dedicated to Jonah but has reconcile with his feelings for Saga. Jagannathan (“Deli Boys,” “Lanterns,” “Wolfs”) will play, Quinn, an FBI agent from D.C. who has to lean on Jonah to navigate the close-knit small town as an outside while dealing with her own personal life struggles.

Jagannathan is repped by Gersh, Untitled and Hansen Jacobson Teller. Carr is repped by Anonymous Content, CAA and Markham, Froggatt & Irwin.
Along with Schreiber, Graham and Beetz, they join previously announced cast members Bill Camp, Rory Culkin and Chrissy Metz.
Lars Kepler is the pseudonym of husband and wife duo Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril. Their “Joona Linna” series, originally published in Swedish, began in 2009, with the 10th and most recent debuting in 2024.

Rowan Joffe and John Hlavin are showrunning the adaptation, with Tim Van Patten directing the first two episodes. Executive producers include Joffe, Hlavin, Van Patten, the Ahndorils, Schreiber, Beetz via her Sleepy Poppy banner, Oystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry and Niclas Salomonsson. Julie Herrin serves as co-executive producer. A+E Studios produces the series in association with Range Studios, with production set to begin this summer in Pittsburgh.
