Scott Wolf to Return to ‘Doc’ Season 2 as Guest Star, Will Also Direct
Dr. Richard Miller is back. Scott Wolf is set to return to Fox’s “Doc” during Season 2 for a multi-episode guest arc, beginning later this season. Additionally, he will direct an episode in early 2026.
“We always knew when Richard got fired that would never be the last of him. But no one expected him to come back to Westside like this — least of all Amy,” co-showrunners and executive producers Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg said in a statement on Tuesday.

Wolf appeared in all 10 episodes of the first season as a series regular. His character was fired from the hospital in the season finale after it was revealed he made a critical mistake during a code blue, resulting in the death of a patient, and blamed the incident on Amy (Molly Parker) after her accident.

“I think one of the heartbreaking things about the Richard story is that he made an honest mistake in a situation that costs someone their life. But he’s a doctor — you can’t do this work without making the odd mistake,” Parker told Variety following the Season 1 finale. “These people are human. But he’s so afraid of the Amy that we meet at the beginning; he’s so convinced that she’s so unforgiving that he would have lost his job.”
With Wolf’s exit, Felicity Huffman joined Season 2 as a series regular role, portraying Dr. Joan Ridley, Amy’s med school professor and early mentor who is now the new Chief of Internal Medicine at Westside Hospital.
“Doc,” produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment, also stars Omar Metwally, Jon Ecker, Amirah Vann, Anya Banerjee, Patrick Walker, and Charlotte Fountain-Jardim.

Season 1 is available to stream on Netflix; Season 2 airs on Fox and Fox One on Tuesdays at 8p.m. ET and streams the next day on Hulu.
