Edgar Ramirez is the latest addition to the cast of “Task” Season 2 at HBO. Ramirez joins returning Season 1 star Mark Ruffalo as well as previously announced new additions Mahershala Ali, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, and Aminah Nieves. The official logline for the new season states, “Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who’s the target.”
Ramirez will appear as Miguel Contreras, who is described as “a devoted family man and loyal DEA second-in-command torn between duty and guilt.”
Ramirez previously starred in the HBO limited series “The Undoing” opposite Nicole Kidman. He is a two-time Emmy and two-tome Golden Globe nominee, all four of which were for playing title roles. He was nominated for both awards for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” and the other two noms for “Carlos” in which he played Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, aka Carlos the Jackal. His other TV credits include “Dr. Death,” while he has starred in films like “Emilia Perez,” “Les Arenas,” and “Jungle Cruise.” He is repped by CAA, Impression Entertainment, Narrative PR, and Hirsch Wallerstein. “Task” debuted strong acclaim from both critics and audiences. The first season holds a 96% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is widely regarded as a strong contender for this year’s Emmy Awards. Brad Inglesby created the series and also serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Ruffalo executive produces in addition to starring. Paul Lee and Mark Roybal executive produce for wiip along with Jeremiah Zagar and Ron Schmidt. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Karen Wacker are co-executive producers.
