‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ Announces Winner of Fan Casting Contest: ‘I’m Super Excited’
Five months after announcing an open casting call, Lionsgate has discovered the fan who will appear in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.”
Devon Singletary has been selected to appear in the sixth installment of “The Hunger Games” film series, due in theaters Nov. 20, 2026.
Singletary’s reaction to the news was captured on video, which was posted on “The Hunger Games” Instagram page as the official announcement. Singletary is a Florida-based actor and filmmaker.

“I’m blown away,” he said on the video. “I’m really just speechless. I’m super excited.”

Singletary was joined by cast members McKenna Grace, Whitney Peak and Joseph Zada congratulating him. They also revealed he would be playing Blair, who is a close friend of Haymitch Abernathy and Burdock Everdeen, Katniss’ father, in the “Hunger Games” prequel.
The video also showed Singletary arriving in front of his trailer for his first day on set, expressing his excitement to be a part of the film.
“I love the ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ book,” he said. “Being selected into the ‘Hunger Games’ is a great honor.”
Back in May, Lionsgate announced an open audition for fans to act out their favorite scene, perform their favorite song or improv for a chance to be selected for a role in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.”
As previously reported, Francis Lawrence, who has directed every “Hunger Games” installment since 2012, will return for the prequel series.
Rounding out the cast are Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Maya Hawke, Jesse Plemons, Billy Porter and Lili Taylor, Iris Apatow, Edvin Ryding and Ben Wang.

Based on Suzanne Collins’ novel of the same name, “Sunrise on the Reaping” will revisit the world of Panem nearly a quarter of a century before the events of the original “Hunger Games” saga. It starts on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell, in which Haymitch Abernathy enters the deadly arena.
