Variety to Spotlight Asian Pacific Creatives in Entertainment With Second Annual 8 Up Next List
Variety will publish its second 8 Asian Pacifics Up Next in Entertainment list on May 7.
Once again, Variety will work with a team at Gold House to select the eight Asian Pacifics making an impact across entertainment.
The 8 Asian Pacifics Up Next in Entertainment list will be selected by a committee of Variety’s editors, reporters and critics, along with a Gold House advisory team. Variety will honor leaders across TV, film, music and theater, including actors, artisans and industry executives, to highlight rising Asian Pacific talent across the global entertainment industry.

Gold House is the leading cultural ecosystem, uniting the Asian Pacific and multicultural communities around common causes, investing capital and resources into independent creators and companies, and showing the world how impactful the Asian Pacific community can be in every industry and endeavor.

Variety’s senior artisans editor Jazz Tangcay said, “Historically, Variety has long championed underrepresented communities through our Impact and to Watch lists. To work on this list with the incredible team at Gold House is a dream collaboration and another step towards showing the power of unity and community. Especially at a time like this.” She added, “This initiative honors the next generation of Asian Pacifics making an impact, and I’m excited to represent that through this Impact list.”
Previous recipients include “Moana 2” co-director Dana LeDoux Miller, “The Last of Us” and “Beef” star Young Mazino, “Didi” director Sean Wang and WME agent Erica Ling.
Variety is looking for rising Asian Pacifics in the aforementioned fields to be considered for this list. Submissions are due April 2 via this form.
