Vicky Krieps’ Cannes Movie ‘Love Me Tender’ Sells Across Europe, Brazil and More Territories (EXCLUSIVE)
Brussels-based sales agent Be For Films has closed major deals on “Love Me Tender,” Anna Cazenave Cambet’s sophomore feature starring Vicky Krieps (“Hot Milk”) following its well-received world premiere at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard.
Based on Constance Debré’s autobiographical novel, the film follows Clémence (Krieps), whose life is dramatically upended when her ex-husband files to strip her of custody of their son after she comes out.

The movie sold Canada (Axia Films Inc), Spain (Bteam Pictures), Italy (Wanted), Sweden (Lucky Dogs AB), Greece (Cinobo), Brazil (Imovision), Baltics (A-One Films), Benelux (September Film Distribution) and Switzerland (Adok Films). Be For Films is currently in negotiations to close deals in the U.S., the U.K. and Germany.
Krieps stars opposite Antoine Reinartz (“Anatomy of a Fall”), Monia Chokri (“The Nature of Love”), Vigo Ferrera-Redier (“Freres”), among others. “Love Me Tender” is produced by Novoprod Cinéma, with co-production from France 2 Cinéma and Viktoria Films.
Cambet made her feature debut with “Gold for Dogs” which was selected for Cannes Critics’ Week in 2020.
Speaking to Variety at the Cannes Film Festival, Krieps said “Love Me Tender” proved to be the most challenging shoot of her career. She said she was drawn to the project and chased the part because it “refuses easy slogans.” “I saw honesty in it, and in the book. By honesty, I mean the courage to tell the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. The film offers no easy answers nor absolution,” Krieps said, adding that her “character isn’t a hero. She’s flawed and complex and real.”
